Engaging boys and men in education

One of our readers alerted me to a conference taking place on the 7th and 8th of June (with workshops taking place on the 9th) in Perthshire, Scotland. It looks really interesting so I thought I’d give it a bit of free publicity.

It’s entitled the Early Education 2011 International Conference; Engaging Boys in Early Education and it’s rationale is to discuss issues facing men and boys in a variety of educational environments (both indoors and outdoors). In particular, it will examine the research linked to boy’s educational attainment and will look at ways of raising the emotional well being and involvement of boys.

It will be led by Claire Warden and will include the following guest speakers:
Anders Farstad, Manager in result unit Hval Gård and Vepsebolet nurseries and consultant
Troels Romby Larsen Senior lecturer, University College Lillebaelt, Denmark
Professor Leif Christensen, Outdoor Education for Pre-School children Department of Social Education, Denmark
Christopher Campion, Deputy Head from Cruckton Hall School, Shropshire
Kenny Spence, Project Manager for Men in Childcare.
