Sparklebox.co.uk

We’ve had a few emails over the last few months asking us if ELHQ has any connection to sparklebox, so I thought I’d write a quick post to clarify that there is no connection what so ever. In fact one of the reasons we created this site was because we were so appalled by the actions of sparklebox’s creator that we wanted to provide an alternative, so that early years practitioners could get access to valuable and time saving teaching resources without having to support the sparklebox site.

I’m not going to go over the story because there’s plenty of info on google if you want to look it up, but it is frustrating that even though it has been blocked by many local authorities 10s of thousands of people still use it everyday.  Google receives close to 400,000 searches worldwide for the term sparklebox and other variations such as sparklebox UK, sparklebox ks2, sparklebox literacy, sparklebox numeracy etc. Add to this the number of people who go directly to the site or via other search engines or links and it really is a substantial number.

I’m not really sure who is running the site now (it may well be that it is now under new management) but personally I still find it uncomfortable to say or type the word let alone go on the site. I suppose people must decide for themselves whether to continue to use the site but please be aware that there are plenty of sites out there offering good quality teaching resources.  Although we don not yet have the quantity of resources that sparklebox has I believe that the quality of what we are offering is significantly higher. We do not simply try to churn resources out as quick as possible in an attempt to try and get more visitors. We put a lot of thought and effort in to the things that we design. Moreover, we are adding loads of new resources to the site every week and if there’s a particular resource that you’re after then just let us know and we’ll try and help you out.

If you are desperate for the resource and can’t wait for us to get it designed I’d suggest that you try some of the other teaching resources sites like Twinkl, Teachers Pet and Mrs.Pancake. These site also offer good quality resource…the most important thing in my eyes is that people stop supporting Sparklebox!

Anyway, I’m glad I got that off my chest. I just wanted to make it 100% clear that we are not connected to sparklebox in anyway. I hope you find our site useful, creating it has been a real labour of love. Please bookmark our homepage and keep checking back as we’re always adding new content. Thank you! I found your site today and it is brilliant. It continues to amaze me that so many of colleagues are happy to use resources from Sparklebox and frankly have just buried their heads in the sand or can’t be bothered to find other sites to use. I use several other wonderful sites for resources and have added yours to my bookmarks. I will be passing the web address on to my teaching friends. Keep up the good work! 🙂

Your site looks great but I have been looking for some small posters that I saw in another school recently that illustrated social communication skills brilliantly. I believe that they were originally fromsparklebox but I can’t find anything like them elsewhere. Could you tell me where to look please?

Would be great to see some human skeleton pictures.
