Story Catching

I stumbled across the website of a charity called Creativity Culture and Education the other day and thought I’d spread the word. CCE is committed to encouraging children’s creativity and promoting the value of arts, creative learning and cultural opportunities both in and out of school. Looking through their website I was quite intrigued by their story catching programme that they recently ran across England for 3 months in which they worked with early years children to develop fun and exciting stories derived from real life situations.

The aim of the project was to showcase methods of gathering information and encouraging children to think creatively that can be easily adopted by early years practitioners in almost any early years setting. According to CCE Chief Executive Paul Collard: “Our Story Catching project will give people fresh ideas on how they can successfully and easily incorporate arts and creativity into their work. These projects will help to energise and develop the workforce, engage parents and ensure that all children are equipped with crucial creative skills.”

Examples of some of their stories can be found on the CCE website it’s definitely worth having a look.
