The Gingerbread Man

The Gingerbread Man first appeared as a short magazine story in 1875, but since then has been retold and adapted many times. The traditional fairy tale tells the story of a childless woman who bakes a gingerbread man, who suddenly leaps up and runs away. The farmer and several animals try to catch the Gingerbread Man but are unsuccessful, which is why the most famous line from the tale is “run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!”. However , in the end [SPOILER ALERT] the fox catches the Gingerbread Man and proceeds to eat him, although some versions of the story end differently (and less dramatically!).

The bright colours and clear images are brilliant for my SEN pupils. For a lot of the children routines are really important, so the visual timetable in particular has been a big hit.
