Another ELHQ App Released: The Expanding Picture Book

Another week, another app release. This time it’s The Expanding Picture Book…a picture book with a twist. The app actually consists of 4 differently themed picture books and the images in each book gradually expand (creating a zooming effect) to reveal a picture within a picture. The illustrations are bright, quirky and intricate and the zooming effect will keep the viewer guessing until the very end.

Each picture book also has an optional set of questions which appear as the images expand. These questions ask the user to find particular things on the screen or to answer basic mathematical questions.

Each picture book has been beautifully illustrated, so I’d like to say a big thank you to the team of designers who worked on this project: Vera Carbin, Arlene Grenade, Alexandra Tully and Emilly Simons. They have all done a fantastic job and as you will see if you download the app there is a high level of detail in each book.

They are full of interesting discussion points making them ideal to use with children who have speech and language difficulties. They are also useful for story sequencing activities when used in conjunction with the printable versions of each level – these can be found here.

The app is completely free to download. You can find out more about it here. To download please visit the App Store:

The apps have been coming thick and fast recently, but our next one (a maths alien game) probably won’t be ready for a couple of months. I will update the blog as soon as it’s available to download.

Thank you Cristina for your kind words of encouragement, it really means a lot. It would be fantastic if you could also leave a review on the app store. Thanks again, Peter.
